As part of our professional obligation, we have registered to collect Florida Sales Tax and Penny for Pinellas Sales Tax. Simply put, it is the law. In the State of Florida, when any service provider applys any sort of wax or sealant to your car, boat, van, truck, RV, or and vehichle, the transanction becomes taxable. Florida Administrative Code 12A-1.006(16)(b)"The entire charge for a wash job, in which wax, silicones, or any other substance is added that forms a protective film or coating, is taxable. The purchase of materials such as wax, silicones, and the like, which form a protective film or coating, is exempt to the dealer. The dealer shall extend a resale certificate to his supplier in lieu of paying tax." Doing business with a company or individual that does not collect Florida Sales tax will lead to problems in the future. When the Florida Department of Revenue discovers a customer’s untaxed purchase, it will bill you, the customer for the use tax, penalty, and interest. When you receive the bill, you may choose to dispute whose responsibility it is to pay the tax. Ask yourself, "Will this person or company now act as a professional and settle your owed taxes?" We provide a service to you, our customers, when we voluntarily register and collect tax. You do not have to worry about unforseen hassels and bills from the Florida Department of Revenue. Peace of mind is worth the few dollars in sales tax that you pay. Alas, in the words of Benjamin Franklin "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." |

Many customers ask us why we charge sales tax on detailing services. It is a reasonable questions as most services in Florida are exempted from sales tax or perhaps you have dealt with an individual or company that did not collect the required tax in the past.
